Resources - Bookplates
The purpose of this section is to illustrate the art of the heraldic bookplate. Bookplates form a distinct class in the genre of heraldic art, one that has become very popular with collectors.
Featured Artist: Gordon Macpherson
The present display is intended to showcase the work of the well-known artist and Society founding father Gordon Macpherson, Niagara Herald Extraordinary. The examples shown are favourites of the artist and are selected to illustrate a variety of heraldic and artistic styles ranging from the relatively simple to the more ornate designs. The choice of design depends largely on the owner's personal taste and whether or not one wishes to incorporate other emblems in the bookplate. Some armigers prefer a more elaborate border which may include additional Shields of Arms together with floral emblems of particular significance to the owner.
