Blazon: Vert a bend wavy Argent charged with two like bendlets Azure and over all the sun in splendour Or charged with a beaver sejant Sable.
Significance: The badge is that of HMCS Gatineau, a Restigouche-class destroyer that seved with the Canadian Navy from 1959-1990 (although there was an earlier HMCS Gatineau – originally HMS Express – that served from 1943-46). The barry-wavy diagonal stripes on a green field represent the Gatineau River running through the Laurentians; the sun suggests the idea of glory; while the beaver is a symbol of Canada.

Artist: LCdr Steve Cowan, Area Cadet Instructor Cadre Officer (Sea), Vancouver Island.
