Blazon: Or, a fess wavy Azure charged with two like barrulets Argent between three fern leaves erect Vert.
Significance: The word "Chebogue" is derived from the Micmac Indian expression "Che paug", meaning "Great Still River". In the badge the barry-wavy band, symbolizing a river, is shown running horizontally rather than diagonally, indicating that it is slow-flowing or "Still". The three ferns are symbols of the Micmac tribe. This is based on the legend of Glooscap, their great hero-god, who is supposed to have killed his evil brother by striking him with a fern -- a myth indicating that the spirit behind the weapon is more powerful than the weapon itself.
