Blazon: Azure, an astrolabe Or, accompanied by three fleurs-de-lis in pairle of the same.
Significance: The blue background represents both the sea and the field colour of the ancient French flag. The astrolabe, an early form of the sextant, is commonly associated with the explorer Champlain, and is included in his statue in Ottawa. The three fleur-de-lis are the royal symbols of France. (The depiction is of an astrolabe actually lost by Champlain in the Ottawa valley and found near Perth Ontario. It is in a New York museum)
Notes: CCMRC Champlain, Quebec, Quebec
Artist: LCdr Steve Cowan, Area Cadet Instructor Cadre Officer (Sea), Vancouver Island.
