Blazon: Barry wavy of ten Argent and Azure, within a horseshoe points upwards Or a wyvern statant wings extended Gules gorged with a Canadian Coronet proper.
Significance: The barry-wavy background denotes the sea. The wyvern (a flying dragon) refers to the role of Bonaventure as an aircraft carrier, while the horseshoe (a symbol of good luck), alludes to the ship’s name. The maple leaf crown refers to the Royal Canadian Navy.
