Blazon: Barry wavy of eight, Argent and Azure, a lozenge Or charged with a Latin cross Sable upon a rocky mount of the same.
Significance: Blessed Marie Marguerite d'Youville was an outstanding figure in New France during the eighteenth century. Great-granddaughter of the great Piere Boucher and descendant of many famous names of the French regime, Madame d'Youville created her own niche in history as the founder of one of Canada's most famous religious orders, the Sisters of Charity of the Cross, commonly known as the Grey Nuns. Born in what is now Boucherville in 1701, she took religious vows after her husband's death, establishing Montreal's first hospital in the 1740's. In the badge design, the background suggests the sea and also alludes to the arms of the city of Varennes, of which Boucherville is a community. The lozenge shape indicates heraldically that the name is that of a woman. The cross on a rocky mount has dual significance: it is derived from the seal of the Grey Nuns, symbolizing Marguerite d'Youville herself, and from the arms of Pierre Boucher, symbolizing the location of the corps.
