Blazon: Per pale embattled Gules and Azure, a lion passand guardant Or, armed Argent.
Significance: The red and blue backgrounds, separated by an "embattled" line, represent the warring nations of England and France respectively. The lion has dual significance. In one sense it signifies the arms of England, the victor. In the other sense, it symbolizes the famous statue at the battlefield of Waterloo, "le léon de Waterlô.".
