Blazon: Gules, an astrolabe Or over a birchbark canoe proper.
Significance: The corps name is related to that of Louis Joliet, the famous French-Canadian explorer and fur-trader who, with Father Marquette, is credited with the discovery of the Mississippi River. The badge design shows a canoe, representing the main mode of travel of the time, and an astrolabe, symbolic of the explorer and map-maker.
