Blazon: Or, a pelican vulning Gules, supporting with her dexter wing an inescutcheon Azure charged with three roses of the first.
Significance: The corps is named for Pierre LeMoyne, Sieur D'Iberville, one of the most famous soldiers of New France, who was involved in the French capture of Fort Nelson in 1697. He was the son of Charles LeMoyne, Sieur de Longueuil, and probably the most famous of the illustrious LeMoyne brothers. The badge shows a pelican, representing the name of D'Iverville's ship, supporting a shield that bears the three roses of the LeMoyne arms. Heraldically, the pelican symbolizes the Holy Eucharist, since it was believed to feed its young by wounding its own breast. Many ships of the period bore this name for religious reasons, not in connection with the bird itself.
