Blazon: Argent, within a laurel wreath in orle Vert, a winged sword palewise point downwards Gules, wings Azure.
Significance: Lieutenant Hampton Gray was a Canadian Officer attached to the Royal Navy Fleet Air Arm. In August 1945, while flying a Corsair over Onagawe Bay, Japan, his aircraft was hit by anti-aircraft fire and severely damaged. Knowing that he could not land safely, Lt. Gray deliberately dived his plane into a Japanese destroyer, sinking it. He was awarded a posthumous Victoria Cross. In the badge, the blue wings represent his role as a naval flyer; the sword symbolizes the sacrifice and valour of his action; and the laurel wreath signifies heroism and victory.
