Blazon: Azure, afloat upon a billowing cloud in base Argent, a Viking longship under sail Or, the slung shields and the sailcloths alternately Or and Argent.
Significance: The name "Gimli" is an Icelandic word meaning "the great hall of the gods", more familiar to us as Valhalla, the heaven of the Vikings. In the badge design, the cloud suggests the idea of heaven, while the ship symbolizes the Viking origin of the name and the use of ships in Viking funerals. A ship under full sail also alludes to CSTE GIMLI's primary role as a sailing school for cadets.
