Blazon: Per chevron, in chief barry wavy of six Argent and Azure, and in base Or, upon a grassy mount Vert, a catamount sejant guardant Gules.
Significance: The original name of the cape was Cap Chaste, after one of Champlain's officers, but has long been corrupted to Cap Chat, or Cape Cat. The triangle on a barry-wavy background symbolizes a cape. The catamount, or wild cat, alludes to the name.
