Blazon: Azure, three ships' topmasts with sails set Proper, flagged Gules, conjoined in pairle reversed; and over all at the fess point a compass rose of eight points, gyronny of sixteen Argent and Gules, the upper point extended.
Significance: Captain Bartlett was a famous arctic navigator, one of whose accomplishments was to carry Peary and his party on their polar expedition. The three sails signify his command of three sailing ships while the compass rose symbolizes his role as explorer and navigator. The North point of the compass is extended to indicate his importance in the history of the arctic.
